I don’t want to be like you,

You’re not the type I could be,

I’d rather look somewhere else,

How about starting with myself?

Too long since I thought about laughter,

I’m not afraid, I just want to know,

Before things become rough,

And I don’t want to be pulled in,

I want to be alone, honestly.

Belonging, it’s a dangerous thing.

These people around me,

So crazy and deluded,

Conceited and stupid,

All they ever think about is themselves.

You scare me, because I fear,

The person you’ll become when,

You reach the height of your life.

Me, I’ll always be in the shadows,

That way, I know that I’m protected,

In ways that I’m immensely grateful of.
